In the fall of 2011, AFS-USA will be launching its first formal Volunteer Service Evaluation (VSE) online survey. A link to this survey will be sent to all AFS-USA volunteers in early October. We will be evaluating how much time AFS volunteers spend volunteering for AFS, how connected they feel to their local volunteer team and to the national organization, and their overall level of satisfaction with their AFS volunteer role(s).

The VSEs are structured in a similar format to the annual Customer Service Evaluation (CSE) which is emailed annually to all host families, returnees, natural families, and schools. Here is a summary of the process that will be used for volunteers when the VSEs are sent out:

  • In early October 2011, all AFS-USA volunteers will receive an email from AFS-USA giving them instructions on how to complete the "volunteer service evaluation" online, via a link included in the email.
  • Volunteers will be asked to direct any questions about the VSE process (technical or otherwise) to vsehelp@afs.org.
  • Summary reports will be created and presented to Staff and Volunteers by the end of the year.
  • At the end of the evaluation cycle, Volunteer Development Department Staff will update Global Link using the contact information changes gleaned from the CSE database.
