Pursuant to the August 3, 2009 newsletter item US Department of State Toll Free Number between this week and next all host families and hosted participants will receive two letters, one from AFS and one from the US Department of State, notifying them of the new DoS Toll Free Number (see Communication to Host Families and Participants re. DoS Toll Free Number).

Members of the Orientation Advisory Group are currently drafting a Post-Arrival Orientation activity that is designed to help participants raise awareness of situations that may threaten their well-being and that emphasizes the proper flow of communication in such situations. All Area and Chapter Chairs/Coordinators, Orientation, Support and Hosting Coordinators will be sent a link to the new activity by Friday, September 18th. We recognize that some Teams and Chapters may have already conducted their Post-Arrival Orientation and regret that we were not able to get this resource to you in time to share with your students. We will incorporate related content into SH 10-11 and beyond participant and host family orientation materials.
