Update on Mandatory Online Training for Hosting, Support, and Orientation Volunteers
From AFSWiki
In the Spring of 2011, two US Department of State Mandated Training Modules were launched for all volunteers involved in the recruitment and screening of host families, as well as volunteers involved in support and orientations for hosted participants. As of August 2, over 1900 AFS-USA volunteers have completed both the Hosting and Support Affiliation (HSA) online training and the Department of State (DoS) online training and certification. A big THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who have taken the time during the last 4 months to complete these two training modules!
No AFS volunteer can be assigned hosting, orientation, and support-related affiliations (including the Liaison affiliation) until they have completed the HSA and DoS training modules. In addition, liaisons cannot be assigned the "Liaison" affiliation until they also complete the online liaison training. All of the volunteers who still need to complete the HSA, DoS, and/or Liaison Training modules have received multiple email and phone call reminders throughout the spring and summer. If you have received notifications that you still need to complete the training, please do so right away.
All liaisons for students arriving during first arrivals (August 10-12) need to complete these two training modules, as well as the online Liaison Training, by Sunday August 7, so that they can be linked to their student on Monday, August 8. Otherwise, upon their arrival, students will receive information about their temporary liaisons and not their permanent liaisons.
