Award Overview
The National Volunteer Recognition Committee is proud to announce a new award: The Tribute Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize chapters or teams for exceptional and outstanding service that benefits AFS-USA in more than one area.
The Tribute Award will be presented to chapters or teams in each of the three AFS-USA regions (Eastern, Central, Western), two awards per region. A cash award ($250) will be presented to each winner and is to be used by the team or chapter at their discretion as long as they follow the spending guidelines approved by the National Council.
The theme for this award will vary annually. This award will be awarded in October of the current year and is based on information from the previous calendar year.
2011 Tribute Award Theme: Sponsored Programs Clusters
The 2011 Tribute Award will be based on the following data from 2011/12: Eligible Sponsored Programs Clusters will have demonstrated:
- development of a new Sponsored Programs Cluster or
- existing Sponsored Programs Clusters will have hosted at least 3 student participants during 2011, complete required cluster events for cluster participants placed in 2011, will not have had an early return of a cluster participant placed in 2011, had an increase in number or participants or hosted a more diverse population within a Sponsored Programs Cluster.
Application and staff references are required. Deadline is September 18, 2012.
Award recipients will be notified no later than October 31, 2012.

Tribute Award Winner for 2010-Heartland Kansas Team
The theme for the 2010 Tribute Award is based on development of a new hosting/sending school within a team or chapter during 2010. To be eligible for this award, the new school must have been volunteer initiated, driven, and have supported project/development.
