The Team Support Coordinator oversees all AFS participant, host family, and natural family support within the area. The Team Support Coordinator coordinates and empowers local volunteers to provide quality support to all AFS participants with the area.

- 10-15 hours per month
- Length of service time: 2 year minimum commitment

Training:
- Participation at national conferences or regional/local training events
- Ongoing support from Regional Service Center and national staff
- Peer-to-peer training and/or mentoring available

Responsibilities
- Ensure all hosted participants, host families, and natural parents of Americans Abroad have a support volunteer in local units.
- Provide training to and serve as advisor for support volunteers in local units.
- Assist in direct support and work with Team Hosting Coordinator in the host family change process.
- Ensure compliance with AFS support standards as outlined in the Team Agreement.
- Ensure that professional counseling (or support) is available.
- Ensure written, dated documentation of all support cases; collaborate and consult with regional staff, keeping them informed of ongoing cases.
- Work with Team Chair to ensure that prescribed orientations occur.
- Serve as liaison between local units and Regional Participant Advisor.
- Monitor and evaluate performance support activities to ensure that all AFS participants have high quality support.
- Develop and maintain a list of local support professionals to call upon as needed (i.e. lawyer, grief counselor, clergy, etc.).
