Team Returnee Coordinator

The Team Returnee Coordinator is responsible for facilitating an ongoing connection with the organization and providing involvement opportunities for returning AFS students. The Returnee Coordinator works with returnees and fellow Team coordinators to assess returnee skills and interests and to refer returnees to volunteer needs within the Team.

Works with:

Leadership Team (especially Volunteer Coordinator) and Local Team volunteers and returnees

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with Team Sending and Orientations coordinators to provide information at student pre-departure orientations on opportunities for returnees to stay involved with AFS.
  2. Coordinate with Support Coordinator to welcome returnees back to their home community and area through reentry orientations.
  3. Organize ongoing returnee-focused activities to enable returnees to interact with one another and with the hosted students and other volunteers in the area.
  4. Work closely with Team Volunteer Coordinator and local team volunteers to keep abreast of their volunteer needs.
  5. Oversee the process of assimilating returnees into the active volunteer group through task and mentor assignments.
  6. Provide additional reentry support and counseling as needed.
  7. Represent returnee interests on the Leadership Team.
