Event Activities

One of the German volunteers gathered a whole series of interesting information - from books, etc. The information from books was scanned and made available as .pdf files, other information was saved a .doc files. These readings were categorized by the various topics that the group had identified as being culturally relevant to the project. Two team members (one each from the USA group and the German group) were assigned to each topic. The team members were given a summary sheet of the readings for each topic (see resource below) and they could vote on which ones most interested them. A few of the sample readings are also shown below.

The team members read all the material relevant to their selected topic(s) and jointly prepared a presentation for the remainder of the team members. These presentations were given in the team meeting in Germany. (see sample presentations below).

Evaluation

  • Having the team members paired across the country representatives was a good way for the team members to get to know each other better in advance of their first face-to-face meeting.
  • Due to different work schedules, most teams had one of the members prepare the skeleton of the presentation and then the other team member filled in the details.
  • Several of the teams did not complete their presentation until after they met in Germany the day before their presentation was to be given.
  • Some of the readings were out of date
