New Hires…
Addison Welsh who has joined AFS-USA as a Community Developer effective October 11, 2011. Addison is the Community Developer for the Colorado Rockies Team and she will be focusing primarily on developing a stronger volunteer base for the team. Having studied abroad, in Australia and then working for a year in Spain has given Addison a passion for the AFS mission. Her experience working at the Office of International Programs at Colorado State University will serve her well in her new role with AFS. Welcome, Addison, to AFS-USA!
Aimee Calandria who joined AFS-USA on October 25, 2011 as Deputy Director of Development, Major Gifts. Aimee is a graduate of Wagner College. She comes to AFS with more than 13 years of fundraising experience at two of New York City's leading cultural institutions. Most recently, at the New York City Opera, Aimee served as Director of Corporate Sponsorship, where she secured support and maintained relationships with sponsors such as American Express, JPMorgan Chase and Target. Aimee also directed the fundraising efforts of the Opera's VOX Committee, comprised of board members and major donors supporting the development of new American works.
During her ten years at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Aimee fulfilled a variety of development roles including Manager of Individual Membership overseeing the cultivation and solicitation activities of BAM's individual donor groups. As Director of Corporate Sponsorship, she managed over 100 partnerships with sponsors such as Bloomberg, Bank of America and Time Warner, securing funding for programs like BAM's world renowned Next Wave Festival.
Sam Kahler joined AFS-USA on October 24, 2011 as the Sponsored Programs Logistics and Administrative Coordinator. He graduated from Skidmore College in May and began working at AFS in August as a Seasonal Compliance Assistant. Sam contributes a few volunteer hours every week working to build a youth activism network called YouthNow, and is glad to be working at a place that is dedicated to bettering the world. Welcome Sam!
