We are pleased to introduce and welcome…

New Hires…

Noah Niermann who joined AFS-USA on Monday, May 16, 2011 as a Regional Hosting Coordinator. Noah graduated from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Most recently he worked as a staff coordinator at Holden Village in WA where he evaluated, screened, and supported a highly diverse and multigenerational volunteer staff. Prior to that, he was an English teacher with the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan. In college, he studied abroad in Egypt, India, China and South Korea. Please join me in welcoming Noah to the Hosting Team!!!

Angela Bullock who will be joining AFS-USA on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 as the Institutional Giving Associate. Angela worked at an afterschool community center for inner city students located in downtown Manhattan. She’s also a co-founder for an organization called 100cameras. Angela obtained her bachelor’s degree at Florida State University. Please join me in welcoming Angela to the Development Team!!!

Erika Dani who will be a Regional Hosting Coordinator effective June 13, 2011. Erika previously worked at a non profit in the Twin Cities where she conducted site visits with non-profits. She also worked as an Orientation Leader with AIFS. In 2003, Erika won the Congress-Bundestag scholarship to Germany. Welcome Erika!!

Congratulations to ….

Phil Gordon on his promotion to Participant Support Manager for the Eastern States. Phil has been AFS staff for 12 years, most recently as a Participant Support Coordinator in the West. He has also served as Interim Partner Director of AFS Panama and Interim Support Manager for the Western States. Phil's qualities and skills are clearly deserving of this opportunity. We are pleased that Phil has accepted the position as PSM!!!

Alina Smith on her promotion to the position of Senior Support Coordinator for the Eastern States. Alina has been with AFS USA for over three years and her work has demonstrated a great ability to take on further responsibility. Please join me in congratulating Alina on her promotion!!

Kate Woods on her promotion to Development and Executive Associate. In Kate's new responsibilities, she will support the work of the Office of President as special assistant to Jorge Castro and provide key project support to the Development Department in several areas of fundraising including AFS Faces of America. Kate Wood has five years of experience in several areas of AFS-USA and this makes her perfect for this new position that will touch upon many areas of our organization. Please join me in congratulating Kate on her new job at AFS-USA!
