Volunteer Position Description

Sending Re-Entry Orientation Volunteer

The Re-Entry Orientation Volunteer is responsible for assisting the Orientation Coordinator with the logistics of the orientation and may serve as a replacement Group Leader should one be needed on the day of the event.

Responsible to: Sending Re-Entry Orientation Coordinator

Works with: Re-Entry Orientation Coordinator and Sending Re-Entry Orientation Group Leaders

Time Required:

  • 4-6 hours training in preparation for duties including reviewing Leader’s Guide and meeting with Orientation Coordinator
  • A minimum of approximately 8 hours on the day of the event.

Competencies Required:

  • Passion for the AFS Mission
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Flexibility

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the mandatory Orientation Group Leader training, facilitated by the Orientation Coordinator prior to the event.
  • Assist in the set up of the orientation on the day of the event, i.e. posting signage, arranging chairs, collating print materials.
  • Serve food to attendees.
  • Serve as a replacement Orientation Group Leader should there be a no-show (optional).
  • Provide feedback on and suggestions for improvement to the orientation content, organization, training, facilities, etc. to the Orientation Coordinator immediately after the event.
  • Assist in tidying up the orientation site after the event.
