- Year Program to Japan: Last call for the SH12 Year program to Japan! Full Application deadline extended to Tuesday, November 15th. Interested students must complete their application quickly to be considered.
- International Education Week: Gear up for Education Week, Nov 14-18! . Here are 10 inspiring ways to celebrate international education. Be sure to share your local events so we can add them to the International Education Week calendar!
- Outbound Sponsored Programs Application Deadlines: Deadlines are approaching for the State Department sponsored programs implemented by AFS and our partners. The deadline for NSLI-Y, an intensive language immersion program, is November 3, 2011. The deadline for Kennedy-Lugar YES Abroad, a year-long cultural immersion program in countries with significant Muslim populations, is January 11, 2012. The deadline for CBYX, an academic year program in Germany for students residing in the Northeast United States, is January 17, 2011. 2012 Spring and Fall Programs
- SH12 Application Deadline extended one last time. The Full Application deadline for many programs departing this Spring has been extended by 2 weeks or more, to November 15th or November 29th. Spots still available in our most popular programs including Japan, Portugal, Panama, and Ghana. Please encourage your students to apply and help them get their interviews done by the deadline. Refer to the Compare Programs pages of the AFS USA website for a full list of available programs and deadlines.
- Here are some key programs to promote:
- Peru Year Program: Deadline Nov 29. Spanish speaking; local volunteers offer excursions to visit other parts of Peru.
- Ghana Semester Programs: Deadline Nov 29. Both school based and community service programs available. Open to graduates, English spoken widely but stus will learn local dialects too. Friendly, beautiful, vibrant West Africa!
- Paraguay Year and Semester Programs: Deadline Nov 29. Semester and year school based, semester and year community service programs available. Open to grads, culture is a mingling of indigenous Guaraní Indian culture with the culture of the Spanish conquistadors. Flexible about placement restrictions.
Financial Assistance
- Financial Aid: We are currently reviewing SH2012 Global Leaders Financial Aid applications. Award decisions are based on a rolling basis, and it's always in a student’s interest to apply as early as possible. We will begin reviewing NH12 Global Leaders Financial Aid applications in mid-January.
- FAST Application Fee Waivers: Just a quick reminder that we do offer students who qualify the option of waiving the $36.00 application fee. Click Here for more information on our fee waiver policy.

Orientations and Travel
- SH Pre-Departure Orientations: Schedule your SH Pre-Departure Orientations in the Activity Module of Global Link. You must fill in all the starred (required) items describing the activity. Any other information which further describes the event is helpful. Since departures commence in mid-January and continue through late March, be sure to plan your event 4-6 six weeks prior to the earliest departure dates of your students.
