Re-entry Orientation Overview

Re-entry or Post-Return Orientation is a time for returnees to reconnect with AFS in their local community, reflect on and discuss their overseas experience, as well as challenges they may be facing as they adjust back to life in the U.S. Often there will not be a large enough group of returnees in a given area or chapter to warrant holding an separate Re-entry Orientation. In this case area teams and chapters may wish to combine their Re-entry Orientation with their Post-Arrival Orientation, holding some sessions solely for returnees and others in which returnees and hosted participants are together. Returnees can also serve as helpers with the logistical side of the orientation, such as helping prepare meals, and/or "shadow" volunteer group leaders in preparation for any future participation as a group leader in their area.
