Alexa Lightner —Returnee Initiative Intern: Communications Group
2005 AFS Returnee- Argentina
Alexa Lightner is currently a senior at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts studying Communications & Culture and Entrepreneurship. When Alexa is not working with AFS or doing school work, she manages the Clark Thrift Store, works at the Clark's recycling center, and does yoga.
Katie Hirvela—Returnee Initiative Intern: Network Development Group
2006 AFS Returnee- New Zealand
Katie Hirvela is currently a senior at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, majoring in Marketing and minoring in Entrepreneurship. Upon returning from her AFS experience in New Zealand, she became a local chapter volunteer and enjoyed connecting with students and her local chapter. In her free time, Katie loves to watch and play sports.
Patrick Matthews—Returnee Initiative Intern: Structure Group
2008 Panama Returnee & 2009 Netherland Returnee
Patrick Matthews is from Cleveland, Ohio and is currently going to school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana studying International Relations and French. In his free time Patrick loves trying out new restaurants in Cleveland or New Orleans and traveling when he can afford it.
Jennifer Conner—Sending Intern: working on Returnee Ambassador Project
2006 AFS Returnee- Czech Republic
Jennifer Conner is currently a senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, double majoring in International Business and Economics and double minoring in French and Russian. Her passion is community service and is the President of a community service organization called Carolina Service Council at USC. After college, Jennifer plans on working in international economic development to continue traveling and making a positive impact in developing countries.
Nora Mishanec-Novak—Sending Intern: working on Returnee Mentor Project
2008 AFS Returnee- France
Nora Mishanec-Novak is currently attending Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York and will soon be transferring to a four-year college to major in International Relations. Just after high school, Nora worked for a non-profit in Guatemala City for a year. And in her free time, she enjoys playing ice hockey and reading about Frida Kahlo.
