Public Service Announcements for Hosting

The following are Public Service Announcements (PSA) promoting hosting with AFS. We want to encourage every hosting volunteer to send them to their local radio and cable stations. If your team has the funds, you can also pay for underwriting on local radio stations.
30 SECOND HOSTING RADIO PSA COPY:
SHE CAME TO OUR HOUSE, SHE BECAME A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY. THERE IS A WORLD OUT THERE THAT WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT AND EACH CHILD WILL BE A LITTLE SMALL PIECE OF THAT WORLD THAT YOU WILL KNOW FOREVER. THEY SETTLE IN AND BECOME A PART OF THE FAMILY, IT’S EVERLASTING. I LOVE HER, SHE’S MY DAUGHTER. BECOME A HOST PARENT TO AN INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL EXCHANGE STUDENT AND CHANGE YOUR WORLD. SAY “YES” TO AFS AND THE YOUTH EXCHANGE AND STUDY PROGRAM. VISIT US TODAY AT AFSUSA.ORG.

Before you forward the PSA file to your local station, please be sure to secure a permission to do so, as unsolicited emails containing large files may be deleted for fear of containing viruses. Because of the amount of emails received by stations, remember to perform follow up calls within one to two days after your initial contact to make sure it was received or if further action is necessary. Here is an example email:
Hi [Radio/Cable Station],
I volunteer for AFS-USA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has been leading international high school student exchange for more than 60 years. We are currently looking for host families for exchange students in our community. We hope you will run a PSA for us on your station (text for the PSA is included below). If you'd like us to send you a 30-second prerecorded PSA, please let me know. Any help is appreciated.
