AFS-USA Volunteer Position Description
Orientation Review Specialist
Orientation Review Specialist serves on a committee that creates new and revises existing hosting and sending orientation materials.
Responsible to: Manager Intercultural Education and Quality
Time Required:
- The amount of time volunteered in this capacity is entirely up to the Orientation Review Specialist
Competencies Required:
- Access to personal computer required and necessary (specifically online services)
- Ability to meet deadlines
Any of the following skills and experience are useful:
- Proof reading and editing
- Curriculum and training design
- Research
- Graphic design
- Web design
- Background in Intercultural Education
Training:
- Minimum: Orientation & training
Materials/Resources Provided by AFS:
- Monthly newsletters
- Occasional optional readings
Works with:
- Staff
- Intercultural Education and Quality Department
- Volunteer
- Team and Chapter/Local Unit Volunteers
Responsibilities: Orientation Review Specialists receive a monthly update regarding orientation at AFS. This newsletter often includes calls for assistance on various projects requiring any of the skills listed above. The Orientation Review Specialist is expected to volunteer his or time related to projects of his or his choosing. The amount of time spent on these projects is determined by the volunteer. The primary responsibility of the Orientation Review Specialist is to complete any work s/he has volunteered to do by the deadline given.
