November 2010 Everyone Ready Topic: Effective Supervision of Volunteers
From AFSWiki
As of November 15, the latest Everyone Ready® online volunteer management training topic is available. As was announced in March 2010, all AFS-USA volunteers and staff can access the monthly Everyone Ready® topics online, via Global Link.
This month's Everyone Ready® topic is entitled, "Effective Supervision: A Seminar for Busy Staff Who Partner with Volunteers" and is available through December 18. After December 18, the seminar will be available in the "archived topics" of the Everyone Ready® site until mid-January.
After completing this seminar and discussing its content, participants will be able to:
- Explain why supervision of volunteers is a critical element in successful volunteer engagement.
- Describe the differences between supervising employees and supervising volunteers.
- Assess their own abilities in teaming with volunteers and identify areas in which they need to increase their skills.
- Develop strategies to supervise a wide range of volunteers.
