NVA Screening Committee
From AFSWiki
Recruiting for the NVA Screening Committee
We invite NVA delegates to be part of the NVA Screening Committee.
What will we do? The Screening Committee is responsible for reviewing requests for action items to the NVA, to ensure that they meet the established criteria and are in compliance with appropriate by-laws. After initial review, the Screening Committee will submit it's recommendation to the National Council for approval, and then to the NVA for consideration.
Am I right for this opportunity? This is a very important part of the AFS democratic process and is an EXCELLENT chance to apply yourself to the purpose of the NVA. The only requirement is that volunteers must be a 2011-12 NVA delegate. Ideal candidates will be knowledgeable or have a strong interest in the AFS, NVA and National Council by-laws, as well as able to work collaboratively and reach consensus.
How much time will this take? This depends completely on the action items submitted. This year we will have rolling submissions (dates TBA), and the committee will convene via phone for one orientation (30 minutes), and once per submission period (3 maximum) for no longer than one hour. Beyond that, of course, you must read and consider all submissions. Rough estimate? A total of 12 hours per person.
How can I be part of this? Send an email to NVAScreening@afsusa.org to let us know you are interested, and we will guide you through the next steps.
Thank you, in advance, for your interest and participation!
