100% of NSLI for Interviews Are Completed!
The 1489th NSLI-Y Interview was completed on Wednesday, March 3, at 5:43 pm, taking us across the finish line! Thank you to all of the AFS Sending Coordinators, Team Chairs, and Volunteers of all sorts who interviewed NSLI-Y candidates. AFS has changed the lives of 600 high school students who will go abroad on NSLI-Y scholarships with AFS and other organizations to study critical languages. The interview process in 2010 was made far more enjoyable and efficient by the contributions of the NSLI-Y Interview Volunteer Task Force: Lisa Abeles-Allison, Anne Davis, Gretchen Griffiths, Mary Ann Nation, and Michelle Mabry.
What’s Next?
All of the NSLI-Y Interviews have been sent to our partner in NSLI-Y, American Councils. Volunteers at American Councils will evaluate and select the scholarship winners between now and the end of March. Announcements will be made in early April. We will share the list of all NSLI-Y winners and alternates with AFS volunteers as soon as it is available so that you can call and congratulate the AFS winners in your area.
On behalf of all of the NSLI-Y candidates and the AFS staff members who work with the NSLI-Y program, we want to say THANK YOU! You can learn more about NSLI for Youth at www.NSLIforYouth.org.
"My interview experience was amazing. Talking to my interviewer was synonymous with talking to a friend. I wouldn't have changed a single thing about it...!" NSLI Student
