AFS-USA Volunteer Position Description

Local Consultant - Law

Provide guidance and advice to the Team Support Coordinator and/or Support Staff in support cases based on his/her profession. This may include taking an active role in treating the student involved, but may simply serve in an advisory role.

Responsible to: Team Support Coordinator and/or Support Staff

Time Required:

  • Varies greatly. Some years none, others could be roughly five hours per year or more if advising on a participant case.
  • No length of service required.

Competencies Required:

  • Practicing Lawyer (or retired in an advisory capacity only)

Training:

  • Any certifications or degrees necessary to practice law

Works with:

  • Staff
    • Participant Support Coordinator
    • Participant Support Manager
  • Volunteer
    • Team Support Coordinator
    • Team Chair

Responsibilities: Provide guidance and advice to AFS in support cases based on his/her profession. This may include taking an active role in representing a student involved in a case, but may simply serve in an advisory role.
