Objective:
A Hosting Placement Requester, as designated by the chapter or Team, has the ability on Global Link to request a change to the placement status of a hosted student prior to student arrival. The Hosting Placement Requester ensures that requests for holds, community placements, school placements, and host family placements are entered in a complete and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication with Hosting Volunteers in the chapter and Team in order to enter appropriate requests for student status changes on AFS Online
- Communicate pertinent information back to the hosting volunteers regarding student status changes by other Teams or chapters.
- Be knowledgeable of the regional system regarding when students are released to the volunteers and which students are available for placement
Time Required:
- 1-2 hours per week depending on the size of the chapter/team and the point in time during the hosting season.
- Length of Service: Negotiable, though one academic or calendar year is preferred.
Responsible to:
- Team/Chapter Hosting Coordinator
- The chapter/team hosting team.
Competencies Required:
- Well-organized and attentive to detail
- Good computer skills
- Ability to respond to email and phone messages in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate with other volunteers about student availability
Training:
- Ongoing support from Regional Service Center
- Peer-to-peer training available
Works with:
- Volunteer
- Team/Chapter Hosting Coordinator
- Local Hosting Volunteers or Community Representatives
