HOSTING MID-STAY ORIENTATION VOLUNTEER
The Mid-Stay Orientation Volunteer is responsible for assisting the Orientation Coordinator with the logistics of the orientation and may serve as a replacement Orientation Group Leader should one be needed on the day of the event.
Responsible to:
Hosting Mid-Stay Orientation Coordinator
Works with:
Mid-Stay Orientation Coordinator and Group Leaders
Time Required:
- 4-6 hours training in preparation for duties including reviewing Leader’s Guide and meeting with Orientation Coordinator
- A minimum of approximately 12 hours on the day of the event.
Competencies Required:
- Passion for the AFS Mission
- Ability to follow intructions, work independently
- Flexibilty
- Physical stamina – ability to put in long hours over a period of 1-2 days
Materials/Resources Provided by AFS:
- Mid-Stay Orientation Leader’s Guide
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the mandatory Orientation Group Leader training, facilitated by the Orientation Coordinator prior to the event.
- Assist in the set up of the orientation on the day of the event, i.e. posting signage, arranging chairs, collating written materials.
- Serve refreshments/meals to attendees.
- Serve as a replacement Orientation Group Leader should there be a no-show (optional).
- Provide feedback on and suggestions for improvement to the orientation content, organization, training, facilities, etc. to the Orientation Coordinator immediately after the event.
- Assist in tidying up the orientation site after the event.
