Objective:
The Host Family Application Coordinator helps ensure that host family applicants receive and complete the Online Host Family Application and that local volunteers are following up on all required application paperwork including school forms and in-home interviews.
Responsibilities:
- Request applications to be sent to leads and/or Host Family Applicants and work with family to complete their forms
- Request local volunteers to complete interview forms and track completion
- Request local volunteers to complete school forms and monitor progress
- Help ensure collection of Host Family References
- Monitor and share missing paperwork reports with appropriate volunteers
- Work together with volunteer and staff Hosting Coordinators to ensure the timely completion of all required paperwork
Time Required:
- 3 to 7 hours per week
- Length of Service: Negotiable, though one hosting cycle or calendar year is preferred with completion of training
Responsible to:
- Team/Chapter Hosting Coordinator
- If no Team/Chapter Hosting Coordinator then responsible to staff Regional Hosting Coordinator
Competencies Required:
- Comfortable working with Online applications
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to track details and follow up with others in a timely manner
- Understanding of AFS and State Department requirements regarding host family applications
Training:
- AFS Global Link
- Online Host Family Application
- One-on-one training by peers or staff available as well as ongoing staff support.

- Staff
- Regional Hosting Coordinator
- Regional Administrative Hosting Coordinator
- Volunteer
- Team/Chapter Hosting Coordinator
- Host family interviewers
- Local Hosting volunteers who work with families and/or schools
