Help us Select the Winner of the Sponsored Programs Host Family Video Contest!

As previously reported in this column, a Host Family Video Contest was launched in December with our Sponsored Programs participants. The project was conceived as a way of obtaining great video footage for future PR and marketing purposes and at the same time, celebrate global families by asking them to submit a short video describing why the hosting experience has been even better than they ever expected. We were very pleased with the enthusiasm for the contest and are happy to report that there were nearly 50 videos submitted. The family members representing the best 10 videos will be attending the Sponsored Programs workshop in Alexandria, Virginia later this month.

At this time, we are delighted to invite you to judge the 10 finalist videos and vote for the winner! Judging is quick and fun, and watching the videos will undoubtedly make your day! Please note that in addition to the participation of AFS host families of CB, FLEX and YES participants, videos were submitted by all of the consortium partners for the YES program including ACES, AYA, CIEE and PAX.

All ten finalist families will be recognized and the overall winner will be announced at the ECA Sponsored Programs Workshop. The ECA (Educational and Cultural Affairs) is the State Department bureau that provides funding for Sponsored Programs including CB, FLEX, YES and NSLI.

If you would like to be a judge or, if you are simply curious about the video submissions, please visit the following link: [1].

Judging should be completed by Sunday, March 7.

If you have any questions, please contact Jesse Elrod at jelrod@afs.org.
