Placement

• Age requirement: 15.0-18.0 years. We prefer girls due to the traditional cultural practice and girls are more welcome into their home.
• Language requirement: Basic English standard skill is required by schools for admittance. In addition, in order to get a better experience, students should try to learn Cantonese as soon as they arrive. Cantonese class is offered to all hosted students, a compulsory one-week class upon arrival, following by two hour a week, for a duration of 1 month. There is one level of instruction. If students progress well the lesson and would like to continue, then we will help to arrange to be taught by our voluntary Cantonese teachers. This is subject to the availability of voluntary Cantonese teachers.
• Health restrictions:
• Graduates: No. Graduated students often find school boring and don't participate.
• Smoking: Smoking is strongly objected by all host families and schools. Students are not allowed to smoke in their school uniforms inside or outside school campus! At worst, student can be expelled from school if caught smoking by school teachers. As a result, the student will be sent home immediately.
• Dietary Restrictions:
• Religion/Spirituality: HK is a city with many religious faiths. Many old Chinese families are Buddhist, they burn incense everyday, worship their goddess by burning paper money, candles, incense in particular festival and events.
