Graduate status cheatsheet

Students must have graduated from high school to attend university programs. They do not need to have graduated to participate on an 18+ community service program, though it is preferred that they have graduated.


Here is a table for which high school programs accept high school graduates. Summer programs may be more accepting of graduates.

Unless otherwise indicated, the yes or no applies to all school programs.

AUS Yes Prefer not. Only 25% grads will be accepted from all sending partners. Stus cannot turn 19 during program, must have completed 10 years of school, will be placed in 11th year.
AUT No Stus cannot be placed in the final year of HS so classmates will be younger.
BFL Yes
BFR Yes But not if stu has already started college in their home country.
BRA Yes Stus cannot turn 19 during program. They'll be placed in the first or second year of school with younger classmates.
CHI yp Yes But, CHI has a strong preference for students between 16-17.4, though they will accept up to 18. Only 10% of all applicants can be grads. Must have completed 10 years of school before departure.
CHI sm Yes Only 10% of all applicants can be grads. Must have completed 10 years of school before departure.
CHN No Narrow age range 15-17.5, must have completed grades 9 or 10.
CRC Yes Prefer 9th or 10th grade students as they will be place with 15-16 year olds.
CZE Yes Classmates will be younger.
DEN Yes Stus will most likely be placed in 10th grade.
DOM Yes Prefer to host students in 11th grade.
ECU Yes Must have completed 9th grade.

FIN Yes
FRA Yes Prefer not; school system is very challenging, and won't accept students over 17.11.
GER CB Yes
GER No Will accept up to 18.6, but have a very strong preference for stu's under 17.6
GHA Yes Graduates can be placed if they are willing to take on a full school schedule

HKG No And stus cannot be older than 18 upon arrival.
HUN Yes
IND Yes BUT - Students must be between 15.6 and 17.6, and have completed the 10th grade.
ISL Yes
ITA Yes OK if stu graduated after 11 years of school, but not if after 12 years. Prefer not, school system is very challenging, stu's can't be over 17.9 yrs.
JPN No Technically possible, but extremely unlikely, best to not even ask. High school seniors applying to the year program will not be accepted if anything on their app suggests an early graduation from school in the US.

MAS Yes
MEX No Strong preference for students 16-17.8.
NED Yes BUT - Students must be between 15-17.10.
NZL No
NOR Yes Prefer not.
PAN Yes Prefer not, and stu's cannot take university courses while on school program.
PAR Yes Though graduated participant can be accepted, the person should show interest and commitment toward school.
POR Yes Prefer not.
RUS No And stus cannot be older than 17.5 upon arrival.
RSA No High school graduates will not be considered or accepted on the school-based programme, even if within age limit.
ESP No Restriction of the Spanish Ministry of Education; no way around it.
SWE Yes Prefer not.
SUI Yes Prefer not; school system is very challenging.
THA Yes Prefer stus to be under 19 upon arrival.
TUR Yes Prefer not; stus cannot be older than 18.2 upon arrival.
