AFS-USA VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Global Link Resource Specialist and Trainer
REPORTS TO: Director of IT
Senior Organizational Development and Learning Specialist (when organizing volunteer training)
CONSULTS WITH: Chair of the IT Advisory Group
OVERVIEW OF POSITION: The Global Link Resource Specialist and Trainer is responsible for training, promoting and helping to manage basic customer service questions from volunteers related to the implementation of the new Global Link database in AFS-USA. These individuals must be able to attend a 3 day in person training in November 2009 and act as the volunteer resource specialist and trainer for Global Link within their specific function (hosting, sending, volunteer development and participant support).
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Ability to train other volunteers both in person and online
• Organized
• Knowledge and familiarity of the current AFS volunteer structure and demographics
• Knowledge of AFS Online
• Knowledge of our current processes in either hosting, sending, volunteering, participant support or all
• Confident and comfortable in using the internet
• Skilled in using online conference tools such as GoTo meeting
• In depth knowledge and skill in using the Global Link database (individual will receive training)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attendance at a 3 day Global Link training
• Work with the Senior Organizational Development and Learning Specialists and the IT department in conducting a series of online and perhaps in person Global Link trainings for volunteers
• Be available several hours a week via email to respond in a timely manner to volunteer customer service questions related to Global Link. This may involve a simple reply to a basic issue, or researching and/or escalating more complex concerns. Will be part of a group of approximately 20 volunteers fulfilling this role, thus the group can determine how to provide coverage such that emails will be responded to in a timely manner
TIME REQUIRED: During the training and implementation of Global Link the time commitment would be approximately 10 hours/week. After that is completed, the time required would be reduced to 5 hours/week
This position is a 1 year commitment starting November 2009 – November 2010
TRAINING AVAILABLE: Required to attend training November 6-8, 2009 in our Western Regional Office located in Portland, OR
