In order to prepare host families better and increase their intercultural awareness, we are continuing to make additional culture-specific materials available for them. Like the Handbook for U.S. Families Hosting German Participants and the Handbook for U.S. Families Hosting Austrian Participants, the latest is a Handbook for U.S. Families Hosting Ghanaian Participants.

This handbook was developed by two AFS-USA volunteers, Kathleen Zamboni from California and Al Russell from Pennsylvania, with the editorial assistance of Dina Nyarko, Hosting Coordinator AFS-Ghana, Lindsey Simmons, Program Manager at ACES, and Robin Weber, Manager Intercultural Education at AFS-USA. There are currently three other handbooks under development -- for Egypt, Thailand, and Turkey. We hope to be able to do this for other countries in the future.

You may find all of these handbooks here -- Country Specific Host Family Handbooks.
