AFS-USA Nominee Carol Ann Zimmerman of Heartland KS Team

Dear AFS Volunteers and Staff,

On behalf of the AFS-USA Galatti Selection Committee, please join me in congratulating the 2009 AFS-USA Galatti Award Nominee, Carol Ann Zimmerman, of the Heartland Kansas Team.

Throughout her over 30 years of dedication to AFS, she has and continues to volunteer at the grass roots levels of AFS. A fellow volunteer writes, “Carol Ann Zimmerman is the epitome of a grassroots AFS volunteer—recruiter, supporter, advocate.” Carol Ann is not only the AT Treasurer, but she also started the AFS School Club which continues to be active and fundraise and to which a fellow volunteer writes, “Carol Ann sponsors and provides unending encouragement to the AFS Club at Sublette High School, thereby not only demonstrating AFS as a sponsoring organization, but perhaps more importantly providing an example to the students of volunteer service as a practicality rather than just a theoretical concept.” In addition Carol Ann has hosted 13 times, finds host families, trains liaisons, and helps with arrival orientations to name just a few.

We wish Carol Ann good luck as her nomination moves forward for consideration by AFS International for the 2009 Galatti Award.
