Overview

GENERAL TIPS for VOLUNTEERS having trouble logging into Global Link:

  • Make sure the Link is correct: The URL for Global Link is - https://usa.afsglobal.org/
  • If you forgot your Username or Password - Click the "Forgot Username or Password?" link on the above page
  • If you are still having problems, please email GLHelp@afsusa.org. This is the Global Link Help Desk. The information below are tips the help desk personnel can use to help you log into Global Link.


Problem: Volunteer cannot find the email with their login info

Potential problems to check:

  1. Global Link never sent an email
  2. Global Link sent an email to the wrong address
  3. Global Link sent an email to the right address, but volunteer's email filters stopped it
  4. Global Link sent an email to the right address, but volunteer forgot they received it

To see if email was generated, check the person’s Contact Log:

  1. Use Person Search screen to look up the person
  2. Click on Person’s name to get into the Person Detail
  3. From Person Detail, click on the Contact Log tab (top red box below) to see the list of contacts for this person.
  4. Click on the Subject Line (bottom red box below) to view the contents of the contact.

  5. View the contents of the email sent 1
  6. Match the email address 2 with the email address on the incoming Help Desk email.
  7. If it doesn't match change the address (use a copy and paste to ensure spelling) and send it again 3.
  8. If it does match, don't change the address and send the email again and have the volunteer check their junk folder or spam filter.

Problem: Volunteer lost their login and/or password. Solution: Reset their password for them

  1. Go to Person Detail – Login Account Tab

  2. Click the “Send existing user ID & password via email button”

  3. Select the Volunteer Email Template, and then click OK.
  4. You can view the email that was generated by going to Contact Log Tab of Person Detail, and Selecting the most recent email sent – Top of the List and then click on the Subject.

Problem: Volunteer received the login email but still cannot log in.

  1. Advise the volunteer to copy their Username and Login from the email and paste into the login fields.
  2. Confirm the volunteer is using the correct URL to log into GL: https://usa.afsglobal.org/AFSGlobal/
  3. Possible incorrect URLs include:
    1. the AFS Online URL
    2. the Host Family Application URL
    3. the Volunteer Registration URL
    4. the AFS Wiki URL
  4. Once Logged in, Volunteer should use the Set Profile Tab to change their user name and password to something easy to remember and set their Secret question. To minimize confusion, we strongly encourage volunteers to use the same username as they have for AFS Wiki, according to the AFSWiki Username Standard.

  5. Other potential issues to check:
    1. Volunteer's service case is GOOD. (They are registered)

    2. They have an active volunteer Affiliation:

    3. Their account is not disabled & their Userid is the same as in their login email. If they changed their Userid, then the most current one will be the one shown below in the Login Tab.
