Fundraising Volunteer
AFS Fundraising Volunteers are responsible for persuing donations to AFS-USA to support chapter and/or team activities, scholarships and programs.
Responsible to:
Team Fund Raising Coordinator
Time Required:
- 5 hours/month (largely dependent upon chapter and/or Team fundraising goals)
Competencies Required:
- Well organized
- Excellent relationship and team-building skills (Negotiating, mediating, recognizing others, problem-solving)
- Keeps commitments
- Passion for the AFS mission
- Effective at task delegation
- Comfortable asking for donations
Training:
- Ongoing support from Regional Service Center and national staff
- Peer-to-peer training and/or mentoring available
Works with:
- Staff
- Regional and national development department
- Volunteer
- Team Treasurer and/or Chapter Treasurer
- Team Chair and/or Chapter Chair
- local volunteers
Responsibilities:
- Work with local volunteers to develop fundraising goals
- Plan and implement fundraising activities to meet goals
- Report fundraising progress to chapter or AT as requested
- Check with chapter and/or Team Treasurer to ensure their is a current Certificate of Registration from AFS-USA before any fundraising activity commences
- Assure compliance of local fundraising with published guidelines and standards pertaining to tax deductible donations. Work with Team or Chapter Treasurer when questions arise regarding tax deductible donations
- Coordinate local fundraising activities with Team, Regional and/or National fundraising activities as requested
