End-of-Stay Event: Minimum Length Now Six Hours
From AFSWiki
The National Council has approved the reduction of the minimum length of the EOS Event from 16 hours to 6 hours, excluding travel time. New EOS guidelines will take effect for students departing in June 2010. This decision took into consideration the results of a volunteer/staff survey regarding EOS (see highlights below), as well as concerns of many Chapters and Area Teams for whom previous standards presented logistical and other challenges. While Area Teams and chapters are welcome to conduct an event longer than the required minimum of six hours, it is our hope that this change will better position all Chapters and Area Teams with the ability to provide a quality event.
Regional Travel and Logistics Staff will communicate the 2010 EOS Guidelines to local coordinators via email in March. These guidelines will also be housed on the wiki under here. The communication and management of the EOS site and bus information will be done in partnership between the EOS Coordinator and the Regional Travel and Logistics Coordinators. This will be done in Global Link via the Activity Module (currently still under development).
The Orientation Advisory Group will provide a revised EOS Event Handbook by early May. (There will not be any new required activities, but there will be a greater selection from which to choose and the layout of the handbook will be more user-friendly.)
