Customize one of the following messages with your own story/message, to your various networks: civic groups, professional organizations, sororities or fraternities, volunteer programs, and everyone that shares the AFS commitment to intercultural learning experiences. Some suggestions for recipients included individuals in your network, group listservs, newsletter editors, LinkedIn contacts, and Facebook friends.
The idea is to capitalize on what we know is the best way to find new host families: word-of-mouth advertising. Click here for additional ways to help spread the word.
Dear Friend,
As a member of your community, I value sharing opportunities that positively affect the world. I volunteer with AFS-USA, a trusted leader in intercultural high school student exchange for more than 60 years. AFS organizes and supports intercultural learning experiences for thousands of students and their families in more than 90 countries, and has transformed the lives of millions of students, families and volunteers like me.
We invite families to join our global community by hosting an AFS Exchange Student for the 2011-2012 school year. Hosting an international student means more than providing a bed and meals. As an AFS Host Family, you'll transform your own community while learning about a new culture. You'll also help a young person discover the U.S. right from your home. Any kind of family can host, and you'll have volunteers like me to support you throughout your experience.

Hi Friends and Family!As you know, I {insert your role, i.e.: work for, volunteer for, host with, studied abroad with} AFS Intercultural Programs, a trusted leader in intercultural high school student exchange for more than 60 years. Today, I need your assistance with something very important to me. In a few short weeks, 2,500 AFS Exchange Students from 90 countries around the world will arrive in the U.S. to attend high school for one year. We are seeking host families for them nationwide and I need your help!
