My name is _________ and I’m an Volunteer for AFS Intercultural Programs in the _________ area.

As you may know, AFS is a nonprofit, international student exchange organization working towards a more peaceful and just world by providing international / intercultural learning experiences through a global volunteer partnership. Since I studied abroad in _________ as a youth, I've been passionate about intercultural exchange, leading me to ____________________.

I have lived in ________ and been active in SCHOOL OR COMMUNITY for _________. I would love to offer an AFS Intercultural Presentation to your students in the coming weeks. AFS presentations tend to appeal most to world language students. I especially enjoy presenting to __________ classes, since this is my own second language.

There are 4 main goals for these interactive presentations:

1. To introduce the value of studying abroad and get students excited about the possibility of experiencing another culture first hand.
2. To present the possibility of hosting foreign students locally and the idea of sharing one's culture with a student from a different country.
3. To make students aware of the numerous programs and scholarship opportunities available through AFS.
4. To share educational content about culture, intercultural communication, and global awareness in a fun, interactive format. This may include: a global quiz, a mini language lesson, non-verbal communication demonstrations, visual illustrations of cultural concepts, video clips of exchange students’ experiences, or even a hosted exchange student sharing her/his experiences firsthand.

My presentations are flexible, but usually work best in a classroom or small auditorium with 1-3 classes at a time. I can present anywhere from 20 - 60 minutes, depending on what fits in your schedule.
