Geographical area:
From the Canadian border in the north to the Catskills in the south; from Central NY (Cooperstown) in the west to the Vermont and Massachusetts borders in the east. For the 09-10 school year, we are no longer covering the northern end of our region beyond Saratoga Springs due to lack of volunteers to provide support in that area.
New York's capital, Albany, is in the middle of our region.
Size:
For the 09-10 school year, we are hosting 14-15 students. We will send 7 students. Since we do not have any active chapters, we are evaluating our future as an area team.
Area team volunteer contacts:
Because of the large area served by this team, the structure is a bit different. The area is split into four "pods" (our western, north/central, and southern/eastern pods). The pods' sending, hosting, and support functions are carried out by the "Pod Leader" in each pod. It works well for us.
Therefore, the area team does not have individuals who are a Support Coordinator, Sending Coordinator, or Hosting Coordinator for the area team.
Our pod leaders are:
