End of Stay (EOS) Orientation Overview

The End of Stay Orientation is the last Orientation that occurs before a Hosted student returns to his or her home country. It occurs the day before D-Day (Departure Day from the Gateway site). D-Day is generally the last Monday or Tuesday in June.

The National Council has approved the reduction of the minimum length of the EOS Event from 16 hours to 6 hours, excluding travel time. New EOS guidelines will take effect for students departing in June 2010. This decision took into consideration the results of a volunteer/staff survey regarding EOS (see highlights below), as well as concerns of many Chapters and Area Teams for whom previous standards presented logistical and other challenges. While Area Teams and chapters are welcome to conduct an event longer than the required minimum of six hours, it is our hope that this change will better position all Chapters and Area Teams with the ability to provide a quality event.
