Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is a bureau of the Department of State that, among other things, regulates the educational exchange industry.
Since 2005, ECA has started auditing compliance to regulations within the industry. Starting in 2007, it required AFS to hire an external auditor to demonstrate that we have appropriate documentation on-hand for every hosted student.
