December 2011 Everyone Ready Topic: Turning Single Days of Service into Longer Volunteer Involvement
From AFSWiki
The latest Everyone Ready® online volunteer management training topic, "Turning Single Days of Service into Longer Volunteer Involvement" is now available. All AFS-USA volunteers and staff can access the monthly Everyone Ready® topics online, via the "Resources" tab in Global Link.
Learn how to encourage volunteers to extend their commitments beyond the universal trend of serving for a single day or one-time event. If your organization is still attached to long-term volunteer positions, think about ways your organization can adapt and even thrive in the current era of short-term volunteers.
Learning Objectives
- Accommodate short-term volunteering within traditional volunteer management
- Develop a system for encouraging incremental commitment
- Think differently about volunteer involvement
This topic will be the main Everyone Ready topic through January 15. On January 16, the new topic, "Building and Sustaining Strong Volunteer Leadership", will be launched. At that time, the "Turning Single Days of Service..." topic will be moved to the Archived Topics section of the "Everyone Ready" main page.
