Placement
- Age requirement: 15.0-18.6 years.
- Language requirement: English; German is useful. During the program there are Czech lessons provided by CZE volunteers once a week but only in some Chapters. Commercial lessons are not reimbursed. Additionally, each student will receive Czech language study book on arrival.
- Health restrictions: Students with chronic disease (ie. diabetes, allergies) are difficult to place.
- Graduates: Yes, but must accept to attend high school with younger students.
- Smoking: CZE does not accept students who smoke.
- Dietary Restrictions: Vegetarians are difficult to place.
- Dress:
- Location: 15% urban, 55% suburban, 35% rural. Many placements are in small towns and villages. Czech families are conservative, closed and often strict (i.e. curfews). Czech families have no maids, everyone in the family is responsible at least of own order. Household chores are usually shared among of all family members. Also preferred are students with a sense for open communication/discussions (non/introvert).
Placements may be either urban or rural.

- Visa: Visa procedure takes up to 60 days. AFS CZE has very limited power to speed up the process.

- Extracurricular: During the program there are some activities organized by the local chapter as trips, meetings, that are not compulsory and the students are responsible for paying the cost.

- Transcript/Diploma:
- School: English and or German speaking knowledge is very helpful. Students are expected to be motivated academically, "B" average. Classes are difficult and students should be ready to accept being placed with younger students /10th - 11th grade/. Students may obtain a confirmation of absolved study.
