Council on Standards for International Educational Travel
From AFSWiki
The Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET) is a not-for-profit organization committed to quality international educational travel and exchange for youth at the high school level.
The purpose of CSIET is to identify reputable international youth exchange programs, to provide leadership and support to the exchange and educational communities so that youth are provided with meaningful and safe international exchange experiences, and to promote the importance and educational value of international youth exchange. CSIET has been promoting international youth exchanges since 1984.
- CSIET requires exchange programs to adhere to a set of operational standards in order to be included in the annual CSIET Advisory List of approved programs which is mailed out to all U.S high schools each June.
- Without CSIET listing, high schools in as many as 30 U.S. states can refuse to host our AFS participants, and they will not be comfortable in recommending our AFS programs abroad.
CSIET's annual publication, the CSIET Advisory List, contains information about programs which have been evaluated and deemed to meet CSIET's national standards. The CSIET Advisory List contains information about 70 international youth travel and exchange organizations. Each organization's listing includes: countries served, brief program descriptions, cost estimates, financial aid opportunities, and complete contact information. The Advisory List is annually distributed to all the high schools in the United States, and hundreds of parents and youth who are seeking interesting and reliable travel and exchange learning opportunities.
