College Advantage Flyer
From AFSWiki
We knew there was a need from the field for something to show students, parents, and teachers the value of AFS; especially when it comes to college admissions.
The double-sided College Advantage Flyer talks about what colleges are looking for, how an exchange program develops those qualities in you, and why AFS should be that program. It answers a lot of the "why" questions. It also has quotes from parents and students about how their AFS experience helped them achieve their college dreams.
We hope that you'll find this useful and a great resource to hand out to begin that discussion about the value of AFS and get people realizing that AFS is much, much more than just a trip abroad. It will change your life. This can be a really great tool!
Updates
The sending team plans to come out with a revised version of this flyer, listing colleges that offer advantages to AFS returnees. As you hear new information about this, please add to or edit what's below.

University of Mississippi Chinese Language Flagship Program Scholarship
The Chinese Language Flagship Program at The University of Mississippi wishes to announce that it is reserving a scholarship for an AFS alumnus or alumna who is applying for admission in 2011 and who is dedicated to achieving superior proficiency in Chinese. Applications for 2010 admission are no longer being accepted. Candidates must apply for admission to The University of Mississippi and to its Chinese Language Flagship Program, and must identify themselves as AFS alumni/alumna, indicating the languages and levels of language they have studied, as well as their overseas exchange destinations. Applicants should visit http://www.olemiss.edu/chinese to learn more about the program, about the cost of attending The University of Mississippi, and about how to apply to the University and to the Flagship Program. Applicants activate their competition for the scholarship reserved for an AFS alumnus or alumna by e-mailing <chinese@olemiss.edu> with their AFS information by February, 2011.
The size of the scholarship will depend on the recipient's success in the Chinese Language Flagship and can amount to as much as $24,000 over a multi-year period (receiving this award in no way disqualifies students from receiving other scholarship offers from The University of Mississippi, the Croft Institute for International Studies, the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, or other entities at the University). The Chinese Language Flagship Program is highly selective, and applicants must be admitted according to the normal selection criteria to be eligible for the scholarship. All inquiries may be directed to <chinese@olemiss.edu>. We welcome your applications!! For more information about The Language Flagship, which also includes programs in Arabic, Russian, Korean, Hindi, Farsi, and more, please visit their website at www.thelanguageflagship.org.
