All Teams, and Affiliated Chapters must complete all chartering requirements on an annual basis.

General Information

2012 chartering information has been emailed to all Chairs and Treasurers on November 17 and for the first time, the application will be online using Global Link.

  • Charter application and all required financial information are due on January 31, 2012.
  • Teams and their chapters will not receive any co-support funds, advances or certificates of insurance unless they are up to date on their financial reporting requirements.
  • Review the structure requirements for Teams as approved by the 2011 National Volunteer Assembly
  • Any new chapters must fill out a separate charter application to ensure we have all required information. See Charter Application for New Chapters or request this application via email from volunteerdevelopment@afs.org

Teams (includes Unaffiliated Chapters)

  • The Team Chair and Team Treasurer will review information in Global Link
  • Teams must submit:
  • Please review the online chartering process for area teams for step by step instructions in completing the application online.
  • It is the Team Chair’s responsibility to make sure its chapters' charter for 2012 is completed.

Timeline

  • Mid November 2011
    • Email communication sent to all Chairs and Treasurers with online chartering overview and link to this Wiki page. Also including information on attending webinars to have charter questions answered.
    • Information posted in the Coming Together Newsletter
  • December 2011
    • Chartering reminder posted in the Coming Together Newsletter
  • January 2012
    • Email reminder sent to all chairs and treasurers
    • January 31-charter application and all financial information must be submitted
  • March 2012: Teams and chapters (once chartered) can go to Global Link and print or save a copy of the 2012 charter certificate.

Merging/Splitting Teams

As approved by the NVA, if a team desires to merge or break into multiple smaller teams, it may petition the National Council for permission. The team must providing the National Council with a File:Team Structure Change Request Form2011.doc that includes a detailed justification for the break up and a plan, agreed upon by 3/4 of the team's registered volunteers, to maintain the same total hosting and sending commitment levels.
