10-9-10 (Ruth Blackstock - volunteer - GEorgia) - Three tips for "integration" into the schools came up at our post arrival orientation, and wanted to share: - If you are breezing through the classes, and want to meet people, think about tutoring - not just language tutoring, but chemistry, math, etc.! Great way to meet people. - Bring your camera to school - everyone expects the foreign kid to take photos - then post them on facebook, tag the people you know. Eventually, others will get tagged, and you can invite them as Fb friend - and in real life too! - Facebook - judiciously used, random comments of "'sup dude" on FB will start conversations and help you get to personalize the contact beyond "where are you from?" and "do they really have electricity and computers in your country?"...
