August 2010 Everyone Ready Topic: Mandated Service: A Human Resource Opportunity

As of August 16, the latest Everyone Ready® online volunteer management training topic is available. As was announced in March 2010, all AFS-USA volunteers and staff can access the monthly Everyone Ready® topics online, via Global Link.
This month's Everyone Ready® topic is entitled, "Mandated Service: A Human Resource Opportunity" and is available through September 19. After September 19, the seminar will be available in the "archived topics" of the Everyone Ready® site until mid-October.
By reading this Guide and discussing its content, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the different reasons why an individual might be required to serve as volunteer or provide community service
- Help other staff members understand the benefits of involving “mandated volunteers” and handle staff resistance to working with them
- Adapt volunteer management practices to better work with mandated volunteers
- Encourage mandated volunteers to continue their service beyond their required period of time
