Are you interested in becoming more involved in promoting AFS programs in your community?
From AFSWiki
In 2010, we are taking steps to strengthen our team of host family recruitment volunteers, utilizing many of the ideas and suggestions that came from the national hosting volunteer meeting in San Antonio in early December. Click here for more information about that meeting: Update on Volunteer Development Discussions at Dec 09 National Hosting Meeting
Do you have the interest, but feel that you don't have the tools and the training you need to be able to successfully recruit host families? AFS-USA would like to be able to identify 200 additional hosting volunteers in 2010 - an average of two additional volunteers per team . These individuals would be responsible for promoting AFS locally, in order to identify potential host families, and to place 1-2 students with a host family in their community or their local high school in 2010. Here is a link to the complete overview of the position: Hosting Volunteer
By early March, a host family recruitment toolkit will be sent to hosting volunteers across the US. This toolkit will contain materials to support them in their efforts to promote hosting with AFS locally and to help them generate interest in hosting in their community. Among other things, these toolkits will include recruitment materials, ideas and best practices for recruiting host families locally, a personalized nametag, and other materials to support volunteers in their efforts to recruit host families in the coming months. If you would like to be more involved in host family recruitment this year, please contact hosting@afs.org.
Volunteers who express a desire to be a hosting volunteer by March 1 will be included in the hosting toolkit mailing, or can request one at a later date, if they do not express interest before the first round of tool kits is mailed out.
In addition, there will be a number of in-person, one-day trainings organized this spring throughout different areas of the country, in order to train new and current hosting volunteers on host family recruitment strategies, best practices, and processes. More information will be shared as the training dates and locations are determined in the coming weeks.
If you have any questions about this campaign, please contact the Hosting or Volunteer Development staff in your region.
