Afspedia

afspedia is an umbrella website sponsored by the staff of AFS International that encompasses wiki content from various partner countries, including AFS-USA.

Long-term vision for afspedia

Like afswiki, afspedia is a work in progress. Here is a generally accepted vision for how afspedia will work, valid as of September, 2007.

1. Visitors to afspedia.org will see a map of the world, with AFS partner countries highlighted, and AFS Wiki-fied countries lit up even more brightly. AFS International will also be represented on the map.
2. Visitors who click on a bright country or on AFS International will be brought to that country's wiki. In the case of the US, visitors would be brought to what currently is at afswiki.org. Each partner country will have its own associated wiki in its own language, with generous inter-linking encouraged to reduce redundancy and standardize processes between partners. Different partner countries who share a common language will most likely not share a wiki. Partner countries without their own wiki may use the AFS International wiki. Partner countries will have full control over the content and access policies for their own wikis.
3. Eventually, either "afspedia" will be renamed to "afswiki", or vice-versa, for ease of inter-linking.
4. Content that is specific to AFS International will be housed in a designated area of afspedia.
