AFS Wiki Current Issue List
From AFSWiki
This article contains a list of AFSWiki maintenance tasks. We need help on these. If you'd like to join the AFS Wiki team, decide what kind of wiki volunteer role you'd like to take, and pitch in!

Content
Improve and clarify online content
- Edit for grammatical correctness, spelling, etc all the participant comments in the PDO Country Quotes. Do not change their content, however, since these are direct quotes and should be kept "real".
- Although currently still a work in progress, AFS Wiki content should conform to the AFS Wiki Style Guide.
- All guidelines and "job descriptions" should be written in a form that is instructive and directly usable.
- Content should be clear and concise. Separate topics should be broken out into separate articles.
New content
Create user pages for active volunteers who aren't yet comfortable creating their own wiki pages. Contact User:Jshakes if you would like more information about this task -- we've got the volunteer names and information; someone just needs to format it correctly.- Review articles identified as stubs and expand them.
(for a staff member) move organization chart on to wiki, showing everyone's basic job description, who reports to whom, possibly a picture and phone number and email address, etc. This could be done within the context of the User: pages.- Add a listing of the various AFS programs, a description of each, and how they differ from one another.
- Propose a AFSWiki Privacy policy (see AFSWiki Private Page Policy)
- In each geographic area, create a list of good places to hold meetings, the cost to rent, how to reserve, etc. Note what facilities are in the area, such as restaurants or office supply stores.
- Create a page that shows, for every town and/or zipcode in the US, the name of the area team that's responsible for it. That way, if we hear of a potential volunteer (such as a recent returnee) who's moved outside of our area (say, going to college) we can connect them directly with an appropriate AFS group, rather than having to go via AFS staff. This page's contents probably already exists within AFS; it just needs to be formatted. The handling of zip codes will change from 5 digit ranges currently being used in Online to a 5 digit database assigning each to an AT in Global Link. - Work in progress!
Access
- Volunteer to create accounts for new volunteers who don't have access to AFSWiki. Contact Jeff if you would be willing to serve in this important role.
- Review the list of pages that should be accessible by the public (without a login): AFSWiki Anonymously Readable Whitelist.
- Proposed changes should be submitted to [Mailto:sysadmin@afswiki.org sysadmin@afswiki.org] for approval and "whitelist"ing.
- Make any page you find more welcoming, user-friendly, and instructive.
Communicate
- If you're an AT webmaster, join the Yahoo group called "afstechvolunteers". Over time, this group can become wiki editors and start moving AFS-general information pages from their websites to this wiki and linking from the local wikis.
