AFS USA Welcomes 12 Visiting Educators from Thailand!

On October 9th, AFS-USA will welcome 12 Thai educators from the South of Thailand. Participants are being supported by the U.S. Embassy in Thailand. The main focus of the program will be for the teachers to observe U.S. classroom methods, classroom management, learn first hand about U.S. culture as well as share their knowledge about Thailand.

The program will provide participants with:
- Opportunities to visit a range of educational institutions at the various levels from kindergarten to high school levels, both private and public school systems
- Opportunities for Thai and American AFS volunteers to exchange ideas on various aspects of AFS programs in their respective countries
- Social and educational excursions organized by hosting chapter(s) (for example: attendance / participation in chapter or team meetings)
- Opportunities for Thai visitors to live with an American family.
All participants will arrive and depart from NYC.
The Arrival orientation is designed to give participants an overview of American social and education structures as well as an overview of AFS-USA’s volunteer composition. The Departure Orientation with include a program evaluation as well as an opportunity for participants to reflect upon program outcomes, achievements and how they can continue building on the relationships established while in the U.S.

Participants spend time observing classes, sharing Thai Culture with students and educators at their host schools, spend time with their host families and learn about American culture.
