We are pleased to let you know that nine of our U.S. participants who were on program in Egypt safely arrived in Istanbul, Turkey today. They were met in Turkey by an AFS Turkey volunteer and YES program alumni who will be staying with them at a hotel this evening. Tomorrow staff and volunteers from AFS Turkey will lead a debrief session with the participants and treat them to some sightseeing in Istanbul later in the day. The students will be travelling on to New York later this week and then on to their home communities hopefully by the weekend. Travel arrangements are still being made for two additional U.S. participants in Egypt along with other AFSer's from Germany, Hungary, and Italy and we will continue to post updates here on the wiki as more details are finalized.

We are deeply appreciative of the tireless efforts made by the staff and volunteers in Egypt over these past four days. They have, in true AFS fashion, devoted themselves to the safety and well-being of the participants first and foremost, even in the midst of very difficult circumstances for their country and for themselves personally. We would also like to thank the staff and volunteers in Turkey who, upon hearing our participants were bound for Istanbul, immediately took matters in hand and prepared for a welcoming arrival. We are all truly fortunate to be part of such a wonderful worldwide network of AFSer's!
