AFS Student Account

- Visa Mailing: Students sent mailing alerting them to the website posting along with instructions on how to access the materials 1-3 months prior to departure. Mailing includes:
- Instructions and Consulate Contact Information
- Visa Application Form (only in the case of programs where AFS applies for student)
- Parental Consent Form (for countries which require it)
- Return addressed envelope (sometimes included when a copy of the visa needs to be mailed back)
- Email: Students sent email alerting them to the website posting along with instructions on how to access the materials.
- Website: Posted on AFS-USA website under “2010 Participants” as PDF attachments.
- Additional Mailings/emails, if required:
- •Visa Support documents: sent later, via UPS, in a separate mailing.
- •Other special documents (such as translated transcripts): instructions may be included with visa info or sent in a separate mailing, depending on level of detail and complexity of documents
- Country Information: Student receives country information 6 weeks prior to departure; reminder emails are sent at 4 and 2 weeks.
- Global Link service stage: Preparation
- Emails: Students sent 3 reminder emails with links to website
- Website: Country information posted for easy reference, linked to from emails.
- Host-family information: Student receives host family information Minimum of 2 weeks prior to departure
- Global Link service stage: Preparation
- Email: Email sent to student notifying them of their host family placement. Directs student to their AFS Account. (Minimum in the Account: Parent names, address, phone and/or email)
- Mailings, if host family application is received. Mailing sent to student with host family paperwork.
