AFS Orientation Framework
From AFSWiki
What is the AFS Orientation Framework?
In the spring of 2005 the Hosting Orientation Work Group (HOWG) was formed and charged with the task of revising all Hosting Orientation Handbooks and Leaders Guides. Over the next year and a half this group reviewed AFS Hosting Orientation materials past and present, stacks of feedback and activities submitted by AFS Volunteers and Staff, and the findings of the Educational Results Study.
Taking all of the above into consideration, members of the HOWG then created a matrix containing: all points of information which group members felt a participant or host family should receive from AFS throughout his or her experience, the optimal timing of when these topics would be conveyed, in what context, and how it related to one or more of the AFS Learning Objectives. From this massive spreadsheet six categories were identified and these became the framework for the new Host Family and Participant Orientations and the Liaison monthly discussion guides. This framework has since been slightly revised and adopted for use within the worldwide AFS Network. As orientation materials are revised they will be done in a way consistent with the AFS International Orientation Framework
